The travel restrictions tightened again as more cases of COVID-19 occurred in China . Are you searching for a better way to spend your weeklong Chinese Spring Festival holiday with your friends and families? SAIL GLOBAL offers sailing courses at Shenzhen base where you can develop a new skill and have a great time for holiday  as well. It is a sportf full of fun and excitement also avoiding crowd gathering. Once you try it rightly , it will be a hobby for life.

1.For whom?

The sailing courses are suitable for both teenagers and adults at all levels of experience. Sailing is a fascinating sport you can do for recreational as well competitive purpose. If you intend to bring your kids, please discuss with us in advance. And the courses will be in English.

2.When?

ASA101(for beginners)

12th-14th Feb.2021

To ensure the quality of learning, in each session only 8 seats are offered. And the schedule time for each day’s courses is 9:00am -6:00pm. It is also flexible to add extra hours of learning if trainees require.

ASA 103,Basic Coastal Cruising

Able to skipper a sloop-rigged auxiliary powered keelboat of approximately 25 to 35 feet length by day in moderate winds(up to 20 knots) and sea conditions.Knowledge of cruising sailboat terminology basic boat systems, auxiliary engine operation,docking procedures,intermediate sail trim, navigation rules, basic coastal navigation,anchoring, weather interpretation, safety and seamanship.

3. Sailing base

Qi Xing Bay (Seven Star Bay)is located in Longang, Shenzhen,  which is known as the venue for annual events such as Shenzhen International Boat Show and Shenzhen Cup Regatta. Qixing Bay is a rare naturally formed harbor embraced on three sides by green hills, which makes it one of the securest harbors around the world.

It is also an ideal retreat for people who live in metropolis to refresh themselves immersing in quiet environment, sweet air and picturesque scenery. You can hear the sound of waves and smell the air form ocean from the room of hotel. Large outdoor terrace brings you a grand view over the bay and unforgettable experience of integrating into the nature.

4. How it works?

There will be indoor lectures on the first day to explain theoretical contents. The instructor will take trainee on the boat and explain its parts. If the wind is good enough, the instructor will skipper the boat and take everyone to feel how the sailing is.

The next day is about practical courses. Every one will go aboard by teams and go through all the works of sailing in rotation. The instructor will give his assistance and advices. If there is more than one team, a race will be held to raise the efficiency of learning.

On the third day, more training will go on. And the trainees will take both paper and practical test. If passed, the instructor will issue an ASA Official Certification Logbook which the trainee can take record of sailing experiences as a proof a competency.

5. ASA

American Sailing Association (ASA for short), is an association of sailing schools, charter companies, professional sailing instructors and sailors, with over 300 affiliated sailing schools located throughout the U.S., as well as in Europe, Central America, China, Japan and other far eastern countries.

To date ASA schools have certified nearly half a million sailors around the world! The ASA system has graded levels of student certification from Basic Keelboat all the way to Offshore Passage making. With a qualified ASA certificate, you can skipper or charter a sailboat in most the sea  areas all over the world.

ASA101:Basic Keel Boat;

ASA103:Basic Coastal Cruising;

ASA104:Bareboat Cruising (Intermediate Coastal Cruising) ;

ASA105:Coastal Navigation.

6. ASA101

ASA 101, Basic Keelboat Sailing:

Able to skipper a sloop-rigged keelboat of approximately 20 to 27 feet in length by day in light to moderate winds (up to 15 knots) and sea conditions. Knowledge of basic sailing terminology, parts and functions, helm commands, basic sail trim, points of sail, buoy-age, seamanship and safety including basic navigation rules to avoid collisions and hazards. Auxiliary power operation is not required.

7. The Instructor

The instructor Chris is a navigation expert. Before he devoted into sailing, he was working as a Managing Director for an international company in Shanghai. He started with sailing more than 35 years ago and since that time sailing is his passion. He also has rich experience (+20 years), of global sailing cruising across Mediterranean Sea, Caribbean Sea, Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean and Asia.

8. Equipment

Sunglasses, hat, oversleeves, trousers and sun cream, especially for sailing, these stuffs will protect you from sunburn. Even prepare a scarf to cover your neck and face if you like.

Gloves is to protect your hand as you will be always pulling the rigging

Sportswear and sneakers are suitable for sailing but leather shoes are unacceptable to be on the boat. And remember to prepare extra clothes for changing.
