48V means “phantom power”. They are an instrumental rock band that was first formed in Changsha, 2005, not long before they became Chengdu-based. Boundaries can determine a lot of things, so can the environment to affect aesthetics, emotions and characters. The music of 48V is full of warm and moist southern temperament, though pure and with a sense of distance in the meantime, as if it’s a warm robot.
Fayzz, the other band in this tour, actually contains three 48V members. To some extent, Fayzz is another version of 48V.
Fayzz started off as a one-man project initiated by the guitarist of 48V, Ku Lou in 2009, slowly evolving into the current set up as new members Huang Yu (Bass), Mu Wang (Guitar), and Wei Ting (Drums) joined in. As a band of progressive artistry approach, Fayzz will not hesitate to explore new creative possibilities; listeners can expect that they further break away from limits defined by genres.
When being asked about the differences between 48V and Fayzz, Huang Yu said, “48V is more introverted, calm and powerful, while Fayzz is more urban-like, radical and complex; the creations of 48V are mainly improvisations, while the works of Fayzz are mainly completed by the guitarist Ku Lou.”
