The Swing Era – The Story 12/5
Jazz and the many branches of Jazz had built a foundation for the pop culture. That revolutionary era is called ‘The Swing Era’, and it has never appeared another similar time as glorious as this. Between 1945-1955, Jazz had been popularised and spread, and into the next decade, it had become respected by everyone. And with twenty years’ development, is all due to the massive effort from the Jazz greats.
The Swing Era had birthed many Jazz pioneers, Charlie Parker was known to be a genius hero, he brough the Swing Era into a developing time where his speed and revolutionary ideas had touched the core of improvisation. Then comes John Coltrane and pushed himself into a place further within the music and attracted many talented musicians. Coltrane soon became a great musician to be highly respected and liked towards. The impact of Coltrane and Parker finishing their careers had made a generation’s jazz musicians lost their directions.
Zhang HongSheng’s Quartet will relive the glorious time of the Swing Era, to remember the revolutionary point in Jazz history.
