The end of Swing and the emergence of Bebop means Jazz had arrived at a contemporary interval. Bebop emerged at the latter stages of the 1940, this had divided Jazz into two opposing sides. One may ask what is Bebop? It may represent the complexity and exquisiteness of a beret or a goatee. Bebop is filled with drama, its vintage but modern, it has rid the old disciplines and limitations and drives for more contemporary freedom yet still bears the shadows of blues and gospel. Its longevity has made it still developing in more and more defined areas.
Contemporary Jazz generalises the then (80s& 90s) popular mainstream jazz as well as the changes and rhythm developments. It reinforces the fusion of the rhythms in Rock, Funk, Soul and R&B etc.
Two nights of 25th and 26th of September, CC Lee and his Quartet will tell us a story of revolution started from the 40s.
