What’s the best nation? Donation!
After months of efforts, China has controlled the spread of COVID-19. However, our nation is facing a new challenge. The rescheduled less-urgent surgeries during the outbreak have to be performed as soon as possible, and hospitals have far from enough blood to provide for their patients.
In fact, the lack of blood in hospital is a crisis. According to People’s Daily, the issue is especially severe during schools’ summer and winter breaks.
In 2016, China News Weekly reported that 50 of 70 large and medium sized cities in China are in lack of blood. Because of this, some hospitals suspended or rescheduled 80% of surgeries, some surgeries were delayed for 6 times.
2020 is a troubled year because of the pandemic. However, heroes emerge in troubled times. For many people, the front line doctors are undoubtedly heroes of the year. Among them, Doctor Zhang Wenhong caught everyone’s attention.
Dr. Zhang has been incredibly influential because of his work ethic and his endeavor to set an example for the nation. He is an advocate and regular contributor for blood donation.
Despite the flooding doubts, he said that: “ The only thing you have to keep in mind before donating is that your blood will be lifesaving for many people.” Following his example, many caring people have set aside their doubts and joined this good cause.
On November 13th, we will take a group of volunteers to Garden City to donate blood. Come be a lifesaver!
